I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Pratt Institute and my Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Massachusetts, where I subsequently pursued a year-long postgraduate residency in printmaking.

URBAN MOSAIC: EXPLORING THE INTERCONNECTIONS INHERENT IN CITIES

With references to architecture, figure-ground plans and aerial views of cities, I create intricate patterns that reflect the disparate parts of our lives and experiences that ultimately come together to form something beautiful. The city becomes the metaphor for this gestalt, revealing the complexity, interconnectedness, relationships and opportunities always around us.

With a passion for experimentation, problem-solving and developing systems, I work in series, discovering new techniques and images through multiple iterations and applications. Even as the city reflects the people who live there, my practice reflects my love of innovation as I explore ideas. Ultimately, I am driven by an intertwining of aesthetics, challenges, patterns, refinement and the insatiable search for an elegant solution that is at the heart of everything I do.

Contemporary artists who inspire me are Mark Bradford, El Anatsui, and Julie Mehretu.
